Many people suffer from TMJ or TMD. Terms
used to describe jaw joint disorders and the muscles
that control them. Head, neck and facial pain associated
with TMD problems often masquerade as a multitude of
other conditions such as sinus headaches, migraines,
neck and shoulder stiffness and many other symptoms.
Fortunately it can be treated. Dr. Pedersen has undergone
special training at the Las
Vegas Institute For Advanced Dental Studies. Over
many years he has obtained knowledge required to manage
these disorders.
These conditions occur due to bad bite
and as a result, the body has to compensate this imbalance,
causing a chain reaction. The muscles work as a team
to maintain balance over your neck, to your shoulders
and to your back. When one is out, e.g. bad bite, the
muscles have to work harder to compensate to keep the
balance, quite often resulting in muscle fatigue, pain
in the face, jaw joint, head and neck. We may need the
help of other health disciplines such as chiropractors,
physio and massage therapists to help us manage these
problems along with neuromuscular treatment.
We can be on our way to helping you create
a long term solution for your condition. Upon consultation
Dr. Pedersen will help you understand which solutions
are right for you.
